Our story begins with a passion for crafting a truly unique wine.
“Field Blend,” our ultra-small production co-fermented masterpiece, is the culmination of our dedication to hands-on viticulture. Nestled in Livermore Valley, our residence property hosts just 220 vines, each meticulously tended to by our own hands.
We cultivate a diverse array of varietals, including Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Malbec, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Muscat, handpicking each grape at optimal ripeness and freezing them until crush time. Our varietals transform as they are crushed, de-stemmed, and co-fermented, allowing for extended maceration in a controlled environment.
The result? A truly enjoyable and unique wine, predominantly red with subtle undertones of white, boasting a composition of 66% Cabernet, 14% Cabernet Franc, 10% Barbera, 5% Malbec, 2% Merlot, 2% Chardonnay, and 1% Muscat.
With an alcohol content typically ranging between 13-14%, our wine exudes a lighter feel with fruity flavors, complemented by hints of eucalyptus from our property. Aged for one year in French oak and another in older neutral oak, our “Sunset Blend” embodies the essence of Livermore Valley, a region steeped in viticultural history dating back almost 140 years.
Our lanscape, characterized by evening winds, cool nights, daytime heat, and rocky soil, provides the perfect conditions for grape cultivation, boasting a temperature differential of less than 5% compared to Napa. Our rear property offers breathtaking sunset views overlooking neighboring vineyards, inspiring our private label.
While delightful now, “Field Blend” is designed to age gracefully, thanks to its lower pH and higher acidity. With an annual production of around 700 bottles, we share 500 with our discerning patrons, reserving the remainder to savor for ourselves.
